萊辛寓言·孔雀與公雞
有一次，孔雀對母雞說：
“瞧瞧吧，你的公雞走來走去有多麽驕傲，多麽趾高氣揚！可人們並不講‘驕傲的公雞’，而總是講‘驕傲的孔雀’。”
“人們這樣做，只是因為他們忽視了一種理由充足的驕傲。”母雞回答說。“公雞驕傲的是它的警醒和男子氣概，而你又憑什麽驕傲呢？——憑五頜六色的羽毛。”
